This is a submission for Meisan's "couple theme: contest". i decided to use my two main characters because they are a couple, and their characters are totally opposite
Description: The basic structure of this illustration is the 'yin and yang'. The flowers, butterflies and the bright colours on the left side represents the 'yang' components of life(flowers), day(butterflies) and brighter elements(colour) whereas the right side represents the 'yin' components of death(dried creepers and decomposition), night(moths) and darker elements(colour). Like 'yin and yang', the elements in the illustration cannot exist without one another. Also, part of 'yin' is 'yang' and part of 'yang' is 'yin' so the female character was put in the 'yang' side which is supposed to represent musculinity and male in the 'yin' side. The overall painting is to represent harmony and balance. |
